You will have Someone's Undying Gratitude

 Allison Norton

The Indiana Blood Center dropped by Burris Laboratory School this week on Tuesday April 12. Instead of setting up the donation center in the auditorium, their set-up was in an RV called the Blood Mobile. Signs around Burris guided students out to the loading dock where the RV was parked.
The Indiana Blood Center visits Burris every year, and student council promotes the cause. Students and faculty members, alike, showed up this year to give blood, and even if they have fear of needles, they still go through with the donation. Burris Senior Lucas Parsons said, “I have done this four times and I’m still afraid of the needles.” In my experience, this was the first time I have given blood, and I was nervous about the needles as well, but I had comfort from other donators. Faculty personnel Debra Funk comforted me by saying; “The worse part is probably the finger prick. The other pricks and prodding doesn’t hurt nearly as bad.”
The turn out this year was far more expected. Burris Senior and Key Club President Rachel Rector said, “This year was probably the best turnout there was, Over 16 people signed up to donate but I have heard of others who didn’t sign up and donated as well. We usually only get like 8 to 10 people a year for the blood drive, so this year’s turnout was incredible.” The key club were the promoters and sponsors of this event.
