Burris senior Kelsey Carr wins Eugene Cato Memorial Scholarship Award. Carr is one of 12 seniors in the state to receive this award.
“I applied for this scholarship back in January and was really excited to hear that I got it,” said Carr.
This award was given by the IHSAA and is specific to student athletes. Carr is a three-sport athlete participating in volleyball, basketball and track. She is also a member of the IHSAA student committee. The award is for 2500 dollars which will go towards tuition at a college of the student winners’ choice as long as they stay as a full time student.
“It’s exciting because I have a lot of involvement in the IHSAA and I believe a lot in it, so it is nice to be recognized on this level,” said Carr.
The award was formally presented to Carr Thursday April, 28th in the Indiana Roof Ballroom in downtown Indianapolis.
