Mr Canada has introduced many of his Government students to a sheriff in Arizona who uses unique methods of housing criminals. Sheriff Joe Arpaio is against illegal immigration and keeps a counter of all of the individuals he sends back to Mexico.
The sheriff also requires the individuals housed in his jail to wear pink uniforms, including pink underwear. The residents of the jail are also banned from smoking and reading magazines.
The most recent topic of interest however is the Mugshot of the Day contest. The Maricopa county sheriff uploads several unique mugshots of people arrested in his county jail to a website every day and allows for the people of America to vote on them. Burris Senior Hannah Badger said, “I really like voting for mugshots, they are so funny and it’s interesting to see how people were acting right after they got arrested, I’m really glad Mr Canada told me about it.”
