Teacher Evaluations

Being able to give your honest opinion about your teachers is a privilege that Burris students get to have. At the end of each semester students get the opportunity to score and comment on their teachers abilities in an anonymous form. Once all the teachers have been evaluated, the administration collects them and reviews them with the teachers. "I find them (evaluations) very useful. I just wish that they got to spend more time looking at them," junior Maya Halley said.
Though student opinions are valued, the evaluations are to be taken seriously. Administrators only want well thought out and intelligent responses. "Student evaluations of their teachers are important for the teachers and administration to review. It allows us to see the student perceptions of classrooms and their input is valued. We would hope that all students take these seriously and give positive and constructive criticism so that classes can serve the best interests of students as possible," Assistant principal for elementary education and special programs Dawn Miller said.
