The infamous Econ Challenge will take place Tuesday, April 12th and Mr. Canada could not be happier.

The Econ Challenge happens once a year and teams from different schools meet and compete in an academic bowl centered on the topic of economics. The Burris team led by Economics teacher Bradly Canada will travel to Indianapolis and compete next Tuesday.

Mr. Canada is always very selective when he assembles his team for the challenge, “I am excited about the members of the team this year, I think they will prepare on their own and take it seriously,” said Canada.

The team includes seniors Kelsey Carr, Kendra Carr and juniors Corey Regan and Courtney Harnish. Team member Kendra Carr expresses her expectations for the challenge, “I’m kinda excited. I think we will do okay there is just a lot of material but we should do pretty well. I have never done something like this before and it will be fun to do something new.”

In any competition people usually wonder what’s the benefit? Mr. Canada explains, “Each member of the winning team receives a $50 gift card and the second place winners receive a $25 gift card. And we go all day and there is free food for the students and myself. It’s always a lot of fun.”
