Prom is approaching

By: Hannah Badger
Junior class president Molly Boylan has done one of the most difficult jobs at Burris planning Prom.
The junior class decided upon the theme and left Boylan in charge to plan the rest of prom, which is scheduled to take place Saturday April 16 in Recital Hall in the art museum.

After many scheduling conflicts and a lack of help the prom is finally on the right track. Boylan was the only one to stick around after the theme of “Willy Wonka’s Chocolate Factory” was chosen. “It was kind of stressful but at the same time it’s exciting. I’ll be excited to see the end results,” said Boylan.

Prom was originally scheduled for April 30 but the associate dean of the art museum where prom is held asked to reschedule due to the museum's 75th Anniversary Gala. This presented a problem because no other space on campus was free on the date. The prom committee then decided to move the date instead of the location. “It was difficult to make the change but we were glad to be able to help out the art museum by moving the date,” Said prom sponsor Betsy Ahlersmeyer

With prom approaching quickly many students are making preparations for prom. “Last year I had to plan prom and this year its kind of nice to relax, I am excited to go!” said Burris Senior Kendra Carr. Many students have already purchased their dresses. When asked about what her dress looked like Burris senior Nickole Regala said “It has a Ke$ha feel to it.”
