Friday the 1st of April marks one of the final straws for the Class of 2011. Gathering Thursday night at 11, they will depart of Gatlinburg, Tennessee for their senior trip. The last few weeks have been very hectic figuring out when and even if the trip will happen. Many students ready to graduate will embrace this opportunity as one of the last times the class will be all together and create lasting memories.
Up until just a few months ago the plan for the senior trip still wasn’t for sure. They originally planned on going to Disney for Senior Weekend but calendar conflictions got in the way of that. “We had numerous problems with both dates and student turnout.” said senior sponsor, Amy Miller. Then conflictions with sports and prom caused for concerns. After many meetings and talks the students were given 3 options and narrowed it down to April 1s- April 3rd for their senior get away.
The itinerary includes: Dolly World, hiking, and activities around the cabin. “I’m excited to go it should be a lot of fun, and marks us closer to being done with high school”, says Senior, Lucas Parsons. The trip will allow a nice 3-day break from not only school but also Muncie. “It will be nice to get away with everyone for a couple days and it’s kind of like a second mini spring break if you didn’t get out of Muncie the first time.”, said senior Danielle Watkins.
As the final year of the Class of 2011 comes to an end they will have one last opportunity to be together. With all of the hard work they have put in for many years will finally be paid off with what is hoped to be a grand adventure. If all works out well the class will be spending one last time as a whole on a nice get away to Gatlinburg, Tennessee. Regardless of the weather or what they do it should be a lasting memory that they can keep forever.
